Stillwater
Limited and quietly commanding. Authentic Pendleton® premium blanket weight wool.
Stillwater is the calm one. Ivory carries the whole field, and everything else arrives in measured amounts — rust stepping up in tiers, dusty rose softening the edges, navy and slate blue cutting one clean line through the middle. There's no shouting in this pattern. It holds its weight through restraint.
The geometry is layered and patient. Terraced triangles climb in stacked ranks, chevron bands run horizontal through sage and taupe, and stepped crosses with open diamond centers anchor the center register — the terraced cross form that runs through Southwest weaving and pottery alike. Mountains, water, and directional movement, built in tiers rather than in blocks.
Balanced. Deliberate. The kind of pattern you don't get tired of.
The palette is soft ground with sharp punctuation: bone and cream, greige, sage, taupe, dusty rose, terracotta, brick, and a run of true navy and cornflower blue through the middle. Warm and cool held in equal tension.
Woven as a true jacquard, this fabric presents two distinct color expressions on opposing sides — one with sharper contrast and clarity, the other muted with a more blended, tonal depth. Same pattern. Different attitude.
Color Pairing Suggestions:
Coat Colors:
Stillwater is the one for a dark horse. On blacks, dark bays, and blue roans the ivory ground reads like light against the coat and the navy line holds the whole thing together. Grays and dapples work too, cool and quiet, with the terracotta doing all the lifting. On a sorrel or chestnut it warms up and softens — pretty, but a different animal than what this fabric does at its best.
Saddle & Tack Leather:
Light and mid-tone leather keeps the ivory luminous — harness tan and chestnut both do it well. Chocolate or dark oiled brown grounds the piece and pulls the terracotta forward. Silver, nickel, or stainless hardware suits it better than brass; it follows the navy instead of fighting it. Turquoise accents are the obvious move and they work.
